South Saxons go into the final game of their league campaign knowing that victory will secure a promotion play-off spot.
Saxons will clinch second place in South Hockey League Sussex Area - Division One - and with it a showdown against Kent runners-up Tunbridge Wells on April 9 - if they win away to East Grinstead IV on Saturday.
Pete Watters’ side will go into the game full of confidence on the back of a 7-1 victory at home to Middleton & Bognor last weekend.
Goals from Dave Draper and Toby Reed put Saxons two-up at half time, although M&B pulled one back in the second half, further strikes from man of the match Paddy Cornish, Gavin Cload, Sam Bunday and Draper (2) sealed victory.
Saxons captain Pete Watters said: “They’re a tough side, they make you work for everything and they just don’t give in so it’s always good to beat them.”
Saxons: Deaves, Watters, Reed, Ford, Bunday, Cornish, Burnett, Eldridge, Cload, Busbridge, Draper, Morris.
