A slice of history was made as Hastings hosted a round of matches in a national floorball competition for the first time.

Hastings Predators hosted a quartet of UK Floorball Federation League South Division games at Summerfields Leisure Centre.

Approximately 50 pairs of eyes followed the home team’s performance as they welcomed a trio of London clubs, the Great White Sharks, Hammerhead Sharks and Vikings.

The Predators played two matches, against the Great White Sharks and the Hammerhead Sharks, winning one and losing the other.

The hosts made a flying start to their opening match against the Great White Sharks by scoring after 30 seconds. The first period ended 3-3, but after that the Londoners showed why they are top of the division by running out 10-5 winners.

Predators’ second match against the Hammerhead Sharks produced a better outcome with a 9-3 victory over the division’s bottom club.

It was also a good day for the Vikings, who triumphed 8-0 against the Hammerhead Sharks and 5-4 against the Great White Sharks in the other two games.

The Predators are lying fourth in the seven-team division with two matches remaining, against the Vikings and Bath Blaze, on Sunday March 22.

They have already qualified for the national finals for the first time in the club’s history. They will face the best teams from the Midland and Scotland divisions in Birmingham on the first weekend of May.
