Davis sets up O'Sullivan clash in Euro last eight

The St Leonards potter will face five-time world champion O'Sullivan tomorrow (Friday) evening after a battling 4-3 victory over Liang Wenbo in round two today.

World number 30 Davis came from behind on three occasions against the Chinese cueman and the only time he was ahead was after clinching the deciding frame.

Wenbo took the opener with a break of 81 only for Davis to hit back with an 82 in the next. Wenbo knocked in a 103 in frame three before Davis levelled again at 2-2.

World number 20 Wenbo edged a tight fifth frame 64-55, but Davis bagged the sixth 70-44 and sealed victory in style with a 107 break in frame seven.

Davis previously pulled off an excellent 4-1 win against third-ranked Shaun Murphy in round one on Tuesday and compiled his 200th career century break to boot.

The 44-year-old won the opening two frames, the second of them on the final black, before Murphy pulled one back.

Davis, the reigning world seniors champion, fashioned a run of 100 to lead 3-1, however, and he sealed victory by winning frame five 53-32.
