All of today's senior football matches in the area look set to go ahead

After weeks of games being called-off due to bad weather, it looks as though today’s (Saturday) senior football matches in the area will all go ahead.

Hastings United’s trip to Wealdstone in the Ryman Football League Premier Division is on after the St Georges Stadium pitch passed a 9.30am inspection. The U’s will be gunning for their first league victory since November 6.

Rye United’s FA Vase last 32 tie at home to Guernsey - the biggest match ever to take place in the town - looks set to be played now that overnight rain has given way to pleasant sunshine.

The club has posted a message on social network site Twitter this morning saying: “Last few bits of standing water being forked. We’ve played on worse. Game goes ahead (ref’s decision notwithstanding).”

Sidley United are optimistic their visit from Shoreham in Sussex County Football League Division One will get the green light. The Blues are desperate to start playing again having had just one game since December 11.

The club Tweeted this morning: “Early pitch inspection passed. Volunteers needed to work on pitch to ensure it passes ref’s final inspection. No rain forecast.”

Bexhill United have Tweeted to say their game at home to Loxwood in Sussex County Football League Division Two “is on not withstanding any bad weather”, while Little Common have confirmed their visit from leaders Newhaven in the same division goes ahead.

Also in Division Two, Westfield’s clash at home to title hopefuls Littlehampton Town has been confirmed as on. Kick-off in that one is 1.30pm, but all of the others will get under way from 3pm.
