Hastings & Bexhill Rugby Club was beaten in a key game towards the foot of the table on Saturday.

H&B went down 22-11 away to Park House and as a result have dropped beneath their opponents into London Three South East’s bottom two.

After the teams exchanged penalties, Bromley-based Park House scored the game’s first try with an unconverted touchdown in the corner to lead 8-3.

Another penalty made it 11-3 to the hosts at half time, but H&B hit back after the break with a try in the corner scored by Ben Campbell after good work from the forwards. The conversion was missed, leaving the score 11-8.

A penalty in front of the posts got H&B back on level terms at 11-11 only for Park House - who won the Kent One title last season with H&B finishing second - to reclaim the lead with a penalty of their own.

Another penalty made it 17-11 and an unconverted Park House try rounded-off the scoring. The result leaves H&B three points behind Park House at the midway stage of their league campaign.

Rye RFC’s scheduled match away to Hove II in Sussex One, meanwhile, was postponed.
