Hastings United Football Club’s game at home to Ramsgate tonight (Monday) is subject to an afternoon pitch inspection.

United director and groundsman Simon Rudkins stated on social media site Twitter that The Pilot Field playing surface will be checked at 3.45pm.

Rudkins added that it was -3degC at the ground last night, leaving a frosty feel this morning. The temperature is only forecast to rise to a maximum of 3degC today.

If it goes ahead, the game - which is due to kick-off at 7.45pm - is an important one for both sides towards the foot of Ryman Football League Division One South.

United are 19th after Saturday’s 2-0 defeat away to Worthing and Ramsgate are second-from-bottom - six points worse off than United, but with two games in hand. The teams have yet to meet this season.

The fixture was due to have been played on Saturday December 27, but was postponed after some of the visiting squad were involved in a road traffic accident en route.
