Dazzling Davis qualifies for Bahrain
Mark Davis has continued his very good start to the 2008-09 main world snooker tour season this week.
The St Leonards ace has reached the final stages of the 2008 Bahrain Snooker Championship by virtue of coming through three matches in qualifying.
Davis, 58th on the official world rankings and 48th on the provisional list, started the run with a 5-2 win over provisional number 64 and Asian U21 champion Li Hang on Tuesday.
He then got the better of provisional number 50 Andrew Higginson 5-3 on Wednesday, gaining revenge for a 5-4 loss at the same stage of the Royal London Watches Grand Prix in September.
And on Thursday, the 36-year-old saw off provisional number 32 Anthony Hamilton, a two-time ranking event finalist, 5-2 after comprehensively winning the last two frames.
Former Benson & Hedges Championship winner Davis now advances to the tournament proper which gets under way in Manama on Saturday November 8.
This success means that Davis has won nine matches in the first four events of the campaign, a sequence which began with him reaching the last 16 of the Northern Ireland Trophy.
