Davis handed Ebdon test
Mark Davis has been paired with Peter Ebdon in round two of snooker's Grand Prix.
The random draw, rather like the FA Cup in football, was made live on BBC television at the Kelvin Hall in Glasgow on Tuesday afternoon.
The best-of-nine frames encounter will get under way from 1pm on Thursday.
Davis has won three matches to reach this stage, the last of which was a nail-biting 5-4 victory over 2007 champion and world number eight Marco Fu in the first round on Saturday.
The 37-year-old St Leonards star, who practises at O'Sullivan's in Bexhill, previously saw off Li Hang 5-3 and six-time world champion Steve Davis 5-0 in qualifying last month.
Victory over Ebdon would see Davis, who is 47th on the official world rankings and 36th on the provisional list, match his best ever ranking event performance of quarter-finalist at the 1996 German Open and 2001 Scottish Open.
Northamptonshire-based Ebdon has eight ranking event titles to his credit, including the 2002 World Championship, 2007 Maplin UK Championship and 2009 Bank of Beijing China Open.
Ebdon, who was also runner-up at the Crucible in 2006, is 14th on the official world rankings and 24th on the provisional list. He beat rising Chinese star Liang Wenbo 5-2 in round one.
