Davis bids to continue fine form
Mark Davis will bid to continue his excellent form on the main world snooker tour later today (Thursday).
The St Leonards cueman will face James McBain in round two of the China Open Qualifiers at Pontin's Prestatyn from 4pm.
McBain whitewashed Stefan Mazrocis 5-0 in round one yesterday, while Davis received a bye into the second stage as a result of his superior ranking.
Davis is 58th on the official rankings and 42nd on the provisional list, whereas McBain is 71st on the official rankings and 84th on the provisional list.
Thirty-six-year-old Davis was a 5-3 winner when the two met in round two of Shanghai Masters Qualifying back in early September.
Should he triumph again, he will advance to take on Dave Gilbert tomorrow afternoon with the prospect of playing Mark Williams in the fourth and final round on Saturday.
Davis has won 13 matches in the season's first five ranking events, a sequence which began with a run to the last 16 of the Northern Ireland Trophy in August.
