Woodley injures shoulder again

Rye United will be without Luke Woodley for the foreseeable future.

The versatile wide player or full-back, who played the whole 120 minutes in the FA Vase tie against Guernsey last weekend, has dislocated his shoulder again.

Woodley wrote on social network site Twitter that he jogged down the road on Saturday evening and slipped as he went to turn the corner. He added that he hopes to be out for ‘just’ 6-8 weeks.

The 22-year-old must be one of unluckiest footballers around. He suffered a similar injury in February 2011 and last year sustained a serious facial injury colliding with his own goalkeeper.

Rye manager Scott Price was hoping to sign Luke Webb, a left-back or left-midfielder from Folkestone Invicta who could fill the void left by Woodley’s absence. Jack Franklin still has two more matches to run on his suspension, but Shaun Loft is now expected to feature regularly again.
