Derby off as well

The local derby between Rye United and Sidley United is off due to a waterlogged pitch

The local derby between Rye United and Sidley United tonight (Tuesday) has been postponed.

As expected, the Sussex County Football League Division One match has succumbed to a waterlogged pitch for the second time having previously been called-off on Boxing Day.

Although we’re almost at the end of January, neither club has yet reached the midway point of its league programme.

In fact, Rye have played just one league game since the 4-2 win at Arundel on December 1 and Sidley have played only one match of any description since December 11.

Little Common’s Sussex RUR Charity Cup quarter-final at home to East Preston, meanwhile, was postponed earlier this morning.
