Busy night of football lies in store
A big night of football lies in prospect with all five of the area's senior teams scheduled to be in action.
First up is the Sussex Senior Cup third round replay between Hastings United and Lewes at The Pilot Field, kick-off 7.45pm.
The two teams initially met at The Dripping Pan last Wednesday, but are having to do it all again because the match finished 1-1 after extra-time.
United are third in the Premier Division of the Ryman League, while Lewes are struggling towards the foot of Blue Square South, the next division up.
The reward for the winners is a quarter-final tie against Sussex County League Division One outfit Shoreham.
Elsewhere, Gullivers is due to played host to an exciting local derby between Sidley United and Rye United in Division Two of the Sussex County League. Kick-off is 7.45pm.
The two promotion hopefuls have already faced each other twice this season with the reverse league fixture ending in a 1-1 draw and Rye winning 2-1 thanks to a last gasp Danny Leach penalty in a Division Two Challenge Cup tie at Sidley.
It will be the first time Sidley captain Sean Kelly has played against Rye since leaving The Salts back in the autumn, while Rye assistant boss Andy Laskey returns to the club he managed for several years until
the end of last term.
Completing the line-up is Westfield's trip to Seaford Town and Little Common's journey to Wealden, both of which are also in Division Two of the Sussex County League and kick-off at 7.45pm.
The results and scorers will appear on this website later and full reports on each game will appear in Friday's Observers.
