HASTINGS Priory eased to a commanding 10-wicket win at Cuckfield in the latest round of fixtures in the Sussex Cricket League.

This victory - their ninth of the summer - keeps Priory just about hanging on the coat-tails of Premier Division leaders Preston Nomads.

Nomads remain firmly in the driving seat after a three wicket win over Three Bridges, while third-placed Eas
tbourne got home by four wickets against Stirlands.

The latest round of results saw Priory close the gap to nine points but Nomads have an all-important game in hand.

Priory are without a fixture next weekend so they will be hoping Nomads slip up at home to mid-table Brighton & Hove.

Cuckfield were skittled out for a miserable 65 due to fine bowling by John Morgan (5-26), Tim van Noort (3-31) and Mick Glazier (2-7). James Beeny (52 not out) and Max Finzel (11 not out) knocked off the runs without too many worries.

Premier Division standings (played-points) - top three: Preston Nomads 16-342, Hastings Priory 17-333, Eastbourne 15-286.

The race for promotion from Division Two looks like going down to the wire with 29 points covering the top five.

Fifth-placed Bexhill were held to a draw at second-placed Littlehampton. The visitors hit 231-8 declared and in reply, the home side finished on 178-9.

Sidley went down by five wickets after being skittled out for 124 against St James' Montefiore.
