Kiplimo Kimutai retained the Hastings Half Marathon crown after a blistering run on Sunday morning.
The Kenyan romped to victory by almost three-and-a-half minutes after crossing the finish line in an excellent 1.02.50 - the fifth fastest winning time in the hugely popular half marathon's history.

Kimutai was more than two-and-a-half minutes quicker than his triumphant run of last year. On that occasion the event was staged in chilly, drizzly conditions, while the 25th staging of the UK's premier half marathon was contested in bright sunshine and temperatures approaching 60degF.

Runner-up in 1.06.16 was Jean Ndayisenga (Burundi) and third went to Willard Chinhanhu (Poole Runners).

Fourth was Hicham Ettaichmi (Morocco) and the top five was completed by 2006 champion Michael Coleman (Medway & Maidstone AC).

The first Sussex finisher was Robbie James (Lewes AC) who was 13th and leading local man once again went to Dan Anderson (Hastings AC) who came 20th.

First lady was Caroline Hoyte (Arena 80 AC) who finished 27th overall in 1.16.56.

The half marathon attracted close to 5,000 entries.
