Davis makes great start to snooker season

Mark Davis has made an excellent start to the 2008-09 main world tour snooker season.
The St Leonards cueman won one match on Saturday and a second on Sunday to reach the final stages of the Northern Ireland Trophy.

Davis, 58th on the official rankings, saw off Kuldesh Johal 5-1 before overcoming 45th-ranked Jamie Burnett 5-2 at Pontin's Prestatyn.

The 36-year-old will face 20th-ranked Joe Swail in round one of an event which gets under way in Belfast on Saturday.
