Rob Ainsley won the quadruple at The Green Lawn Tennis Club's Finals' Day for the second year running.
But unlike last year when he had to come back another day to seal the handicap singles, the 26-year-old did it in a single day this time around.

Ainsley's fifth men's singles title puts him only two behind Jeffrey Gedge's record of seven, although
he had a major scare in the quarter-finals.

Seb Morley produced the performance of his life to come within one game of putting Ainsley out, but the champion pulled through 6-0, 6-7, 9-7 in a two-and-a-half-hour thriller decided by positive play and winners.

In the final, Alistair Pells' old school slice and left-handed serve, which was effective in the gusty wind, made for an interesting contrast with Ainsley's modern, heavy topspin game.

But Ainsley's weight of shot and fitness were too much for his older opponent in the end as he prevailed 6-3, 6-3 at the Tower Road West club.

The men's doubles final was tight for the whole match, but Peter Crabtree and Ainsley had a little bit extra to see off Felix Gregory and Mike Sherwood.

Victory gave Ainsley and Crabtree their second consecutive club title and they have never lost a set in the tournament.

The mixed doubles final saw a stunning performance from Page to assist Ainsley to his third title of the day. Page barely missed a shot all match in a masterful display from the winning pair.

The last match of the day was the handicap singles final between Ainsley and Stuart Clode, which started at 8pm.

Clode had a 15-0 lead in each game and had already pushed Ainsley to 6-2, 7-6 in the men's singles semi-final the day before.

The first set was a bruising, hard-fought affair and Clode held eight set points in three seperate games, but Ainsley produced some strong tennis under pressure and eventually won it 10-8.

Although the second set was still quite close, it was apparent that Ainsley had broken his opponent's spirit.

The finals were marred by incredibly high winds with some really strong gusts, yet the level of play remained pretty good.

One shot of Ainsley's in the singles bounced on Pells' side of the court and blew back over the net before Pells could reach it.

Results: men's singles Rob Ainsley bt Alistair Pells 6-3, 6-3; ladies' singles Claire Larkin bt Amanda Ruck 6-2, 6-0; men's over-45s singles Pells bt Richard Yule 6-3, 6-4; men's doubles Ainsley & Peter Crabtree bt Felix Gregory & Mike Sherwood 6-4, 7-5; ladies' doubles Larkin & Ruck bt Sheila King & Beaula Page 6-2, 6-2; mixed doubles Ainsley & Page bt John Wond & Ruck 6-2, 6-0; over-55s doubles Yule & Neil Baker bt Chris Kilroy & Ted Larkin 7-5, 6-2; handicap singles Ainsley bt Stuart Clode 10-8, 6-4.
