SAM Adams has opted to remain at Hastings United after signing Ryman League forms for next season.

The 21-year-old forward's decision to continue his playing career at The Pilot Field ends considerable speculation regarding a potential move to Ashford Town.

The Kent club had been keeping a close eye on Hastings' leading scorer last season but an offer of £600 fell well short of The U's own valuation in the region of £10,000.

Adams was on holiday in Spain when he finally made up his mind to stay with the Ryman Premier club.

"It seems as though he had time to sit down and reflect," said Hastings manager John Lambert. "I'm chuffed to bits to have him back."

Fellow striker Frankie Sawyer has also re-signed for Hastings to bolster a powerful-looking forward line which also includes Scott Ramsay and Marc Whiteman.

Highly-rated teenager Jack Dixon has moved to The U's from Sussex League Rye United, while left-sided player Russell Eldridge has joined Ryman Premier rivals Horsham.

Hastings open their pre-season programme with a trip to Ringmer on Tuesday, kick-off 7.30pm.

Hastings will be away to Burgess Hill Town in the second round of the Sussex Senior Cup and at home to Little Common in the first round of the Hastings Senior Cup.
