A Rye fishing boat sunk in the river after coming adrift of her moorings.
The unoccupied boat Vic Anna drifted under Monkbretton Bridge on Thursday morning and began to take in water.

Rye Harbour Lifeboat launched with the aim of carrying out a salvage operation.

It arrived at the scene within minutes with a salvage pump but the Vic Anna had already sunk.

Lifeboat Operations Manager Richard Tollett said: "One of the reasons that we train twice a week here at Rye Harbour is: you never know what the crew will have to face when they arrive on scene.

"In this instance it only took two minutes to arrive at the scene but unfortunately the casualty had already sunk."
