Robertsbridge residents are being invited to have a say in what type of plays, music, exhibitions and other cultural events are staged in the village.
The invitation comes from the Robertsbridge Art Partnership (RAP) which is using tonight's (Friday's) annual general meeting to invite villagers to influence the type of cultural events on offer.

Michael Smith, a RAP committee member, said: "RAP
is a community-driven group and the AGM gives local people an ideal chance to hear about our plans for the future and to help determine which plays, musical performances and exhibitions are staged for the benefit of local residents.

"The more we hear from the people of Robertsbridge, the more we can try to bring the type of events they want to see."

RAP, which is funded by bodies such as Rother District Council and the Arts Council, has helped stage nearly 200 events since its formation just eight years ago, and aims to cater for all tastes and age groups.

The range of events arranged by RAP for Robertsbridge include: classic and family theatre productions like Under Milk Wood and Alice in Wonderland; classic and folk music and the Rococo Community Choir; ballet to salsa and Spring into Summer dance; literary events such as local poetry readings and an evening with Edna Healey; film shows and workshops including Shakespeare for Kids; an assortment of exhibitions including a children's cartoon festival and the current Folk-Us on Robertsbridge photographic exhibition.

RAP also stages the popular Christmas Capers in the village.

The meeting will take place tonight, starting at 7.30pm, at The Ostrich in Robertsbridge.
