All the preparations for the bonfire have paid off and the highlight, as ever, was the burning of the giant effigy.
This year an art gallery on the beach was the victim of the bonfire society's incendary humour. Previous years' offerings have included a giant twin bin and a parking warden.
The fire was lit by the Mayor on Hastings seafront making it the only bonfire in the UK to have the fire on a beach.
