Houses in St Leonards have benefited from £500,000 of flood protection.

The properties in Seaside Road have received extra protection to help reduce the risk of sewers flooding during stormy weather.

Southern Water modified an underground storm tank and improved the flow of water into the storage tanks to help avoid a build up of water and possible flooding during heavy rainfall.

Gary Sayers, senior project engineer for Southern Water, said: "We are delighted with the completion of the project, which will help to reduce the risk of wastewater flooding to properties in the local area.

"We would like to thank the residents in Seaside Road for their patience while the construction work was carried out."
