A motorist injured in a collision on the A21 at Hurst Green yesterday (Wednesday) has died.
The 52-year-old man from St Leonards was seriously injured when the grey Fiat Marea HLX he was driving collided with a red DAF goods vehicle and a Vauxhall Vivaro van.

Emergency services raced to the scene and paramedics took the man to the Conquest Hospital in Hastings, where he later died.

The collision happened just before 7.15am and the road was closed for around four-and-a-half hours while police examined the scene, causing rush hour chaos.

Police have not yet identified the man.

Sgt Jon Carter from the Road Policing Unit would like to hear from anyone who saw the collision or the movement of any of the vehicles in the area prior to it.

Please call 01273 404374 or 0845 60 70 999, extension 63288, quoting Operation Binham.

when is this killer road going to be upgraded and made safer? how many more local people have to die before the council does something?

I agree with Peter Alan. This road has already claimed too many lives. The Highways Authorities must take action to prevent further deaths.

i think the highways authorities will only respond to pressure from councils. why have our councils (town and county) sat on their hands while there are deaths and injuries almost every month?

The 'NIMBY' attitude of people who live along the A21 will always stop any kind of development of this lethal road.
