Hastings Borough Council will review the changes to parking in the town following complaints.
In his plan for the year, council leader Peter Pragnell said at the first council meeting of the new administration this week: "I am aware that recent changes to the parking regime in Hastings may be causing difficulties for residents, businesses and visitors.

"Accordingly we have decided that, within the next few months, we shall carry out a review of the effects that those changes have made."

At an earlier meeting of the council cabinet, labour group leader Cllr Jeremy Birch warned that the council faced more penalty charge notice appeals over the coming 12 months, as a result of the changes, which have seen parking restrictions imposed until 8pm, and on Sundays and Bank Holidays.

He said: "The parking changes that Cllr Roy Tucker approved of have caused problems."

Responding, Cllr Tucker said: "As of this point we don't have much room for manoeuvre. I know that the 8pm position has caused a lot of reaction, therefore we will reassess this in due course."

Good ...there have been a lot of problems caused by the time change from 6:00 to 8:00. Parking is just getting to difficult in Hastings.

Admit the mistake, put the 6:00/Sunday back ..thats what listening and taking responsibility is about !

The Tories extended the parking restrictions to include Sundays, Bank holidays and 6pm to 8pm.

This was typical Tory greed. Milking the locals and visitors. It was a mistake! The shops are empty on Sundays now.

The Tories will never admit they were wrong so we are stuck with "Tucker's Luck". This sad old man has obviously lost the plot.

Just to illustrate the point, the Mayoral car bringing the Mayor from Rye was ticketed outside the White Rock Theatre as the chauffeur dropped off the dignitaries for the Mayor-making ceremony.
