A sales manager was arrested after police found him sitting in a company car drunk.
Louis Goddard, 26, of Elm Lane, Pett, was spotted in The Bourne, Hastings, late at night.
Prosecutor Peter Bolwell said: "Police were concerned about the defendant sitting in the car as it was a powerful vehicle and he had the ignition keys in his
possession.
"They arrested him and took him back to the police station where he refused point blank to provide a specimen."
Goddard appeared in court on Wednesday and pleaded guilty to failing to give a specimen for analysis.
The incident happened on August 9.
Ronan Crummy, defending, said: "It was carnival day in Hastings and he had parked the car earlier and drank for the majority of the day.
"He was collecting his belongings from the car because he planned to stay that night in Hastings.
"Police apparently got a call saying someone was trying to steal from the vehicle.
"The defendant did not give a specimen because he was not going to drive.
"He works in Maidstone as a sales manager selling drainage to builders."
Deputy district judge Mark Jabbit fined Goddard £300, ordered £50 costs and banned him from driving for 18 months.
