Cancer charity Marie Curie Cancer Care is encouraging Hastings residents to take part in the annual national Swimathon next month.
Swimathon 2008 will take place at Summerfields leisure centre and 18,500 people in the UK are expected to take part and raise £1.8 million.
Swimathon 2008 is open to everyone, encouraging people to set their own personal challenge by accomplishing a distance of their choice: 1.5km for those who swim occasionally, 2.5km for the intermediate swimmer, and the ultimate 5km challenge, which requires at least six weeks of training.
The 5km challenge can also be completed as part of a team of up to five people.
To find out more about Swimathon and to sign-up for the 2008 challenge go to: www.swimathon.org or call 0845 36 700 36.
