Why bother with the instructions?

I totally agree with Chris Bowman who wrote in last week’s Hastings Observer in regard of the recycling operatives tipping all the bottles into the green bin.

I live in the Rother District Council area and yesterday evening my wife saw the recycling operatives do exactly the same thing.

In the leaflets that Rother sent out we are asked to not only put the bottles in the black box but also to put any shredding into a bag and leave on top of the green bin.

The operatives that came yesterday evening not only put the bottles into the green bin but they threw the plastic bag containing my shredding into the green bin.

So my question is the same as the gentleman who wrote to you last week is why, oh why do we bother?

Perhaps the two councils involved would like to respond via your newspaper!
