We are fortunate to have them

How fortunate we are in the Old Town to have an organisation like the Hastings Old Town Residents Association.

Under the guiding hand of HOTRA chairman, Dick Edwards, the residents association keeps a watchful eye on all that is happening or is likely to happen in the Old Town.

One such issue is the suggestion to close the Roebuck Surgery and open a health centre on the former Ice House site in Rock-a-Nore Road.

Thanks to HOTRA, local people were able to hear at first hand details of these proposals and both comment and question them.

Dr Craig Namvar outlined his vision for a comprehensive Health Centre to include 23 clinical rooms,a gym,a healthy eating restaurant, a dentist, an optician and a pharmacy etc..

Many fears were allayed and rather than being the subject of yet another Old Town rumour, those attending the open meeting last Friday were given the opportunity to hear straight from the horse’s mouth.

The Old Town community have plenty to thank HOTRA for and the meeting which they convened to hear all about the possibility of a new health centre was a classic example of their determination to keep local residents informed.

For that alone a big thank you is due.
