Vermin in lower park

ALLAN Beard in his letter of April 8 mentioned the large number of rats in and around the river in the park, but I would like to point out that it is in fact the whole lower park that has this problem, including the area around the cafe.

This however should not come as a surprise as the council was warned by myself by way of a letter in the Observer that this would be the result of the dogs on leads policy, as I warned except for the warmest of days the lower park is practically deserted leaving the rats with a free run to feed and breed at will. Well done Hastings Borough Council. You have turned a pleasant park into a biological battlefield, and I for one would not let my toddler play on the grass in the lower park.
