I WOULD like to express my very grateful thanks through your paper to the paramedics who came to my mum’s rescue on September 17, when she had a major heart attack at home.
Their speedy response and treatment, coupled with the further immediate treatment she received on arrival at Eastbourne Hospital, no doubt saved her life.
Unfortunately, due to NHS cuts, there was no provision that weekend at the Conquest Hospital and during my mum’s stay at Eastbourne, one of the two toilets on her ward and two out of three of the main lifts were out of order, they ran out of clean towels and orange juice, the computers ‘went down’ and there was no hot water for a shower on her final day.
Luckily the quality of NHS staff remains high, unlike the equipment and provision. Thank goodness for that
