WITH my Huntington’s Association treasurer’s hat on I thank all my friends from senior aqua at the Freedom Leisure Pool at Glyne Gap for their amazing success in fundraising for the local branch of this charity in recent weeks.
One has diverted her knitting skills to making beautifully crafted animals and dolls, some in Huntington’s colours and selling these has raised more than £100.
A ploughman’s lunch with jazz on June 14, very labour intensive as more than 60 attended, along with our mayor councillor Kim Forward and the town crier raised in excess of £550.
Another friend encouraged Slimming World members who meet at St Peter and St Paul Church Hall on Monday evenings, that as she was doing a sponsored slim for our charity, their fundraising efforts in June could come to us as well. This generosity added a further £180 to our coffers.
I really appreciate the hard work and dedication that goes in to organising these events.
They have not finished yet however as there is one further event to come. On Tuesday, August 9, from 2pm there is a spectacular Strawberry Cream Tea in the garden of 20 Penland Road, Bexhill. Soft toy tombola, books, bric-a-brac, a raffle and other delights to go with your strawberries, cream and scones.
Tickets for this event are £5 on the day or contact me on 01424 716907. Thank you all once again.
