Shoppers did us proud

I WOULD like to express our gratitude to all members of the public who supported us at our tombola stall on Easter Saturday, at Priory Meadow.

We collected a grand amount of £354.11, all of which will be devoted to our work for those local ex-service personnel and their dependants in need, living in Hastings and Rother areas.

In 2011 our volunteer team of eight caseworkers and three visitors completed 170 cases and made around 500 visits.

This year alone we have had almost 50 new cases, to date, and with the economic climate as it is, demand is unlikely to fall.

SSAFA Forces Help has been operating in Hastings since 1886 and we are determined to sustain a service that provides what is often a point of last resort for those who do not know where to turn in times of trouble.

Funds raised at events such as this enable us to do just that and support those who have contributed towards our nation’s security over the years, many in theatres of conflict.

To qualify for our help a soldier, sailor or airman or women has only had to serve a single day.

Our thanks again to the shoppers in Priory Meadow.
