Sergeant’s family asked to service

ON June 22, 1943 (70 years ago) Halifax HR735 from 158 Squadron RAF was shot down near Kaathoven (Vinkel) in Holland.

One member of the crew was Barham, Harry Frederick. Rank: Sergeant. (W/Op) Service No: 1270788. Date of Death: 22/06/1943. Age: 22.

Regiment/Service: Royal Air Force Volunteer Reserve. 158 Sqdn. Panel Reference: Panel 141. Memorial: Runnymede Memorial.

Additional Information: Son of Harry Ottawa Barham and Florence Beatrice Barham, of West Hill, Hastings, East Sussex.

The organisers of the Commemoration Ceremony have been trying to contact Sergeant Barham’s family to include them in the remembrance service.

The next night another Halifax from 427 Sqdn RCAF was also shot down very close by, so the ceremony is to remember both crews.
