Road network is inadequate

The new Link Road - I must admit - benefits me hugely.

But it does now show up the glaring inadequacy of the road network it is part of. And it’s not just potholes. Signs are either invisible because they’re just plain filthy or they’ve become hidden by vegetation. Road markings are virtually a thing of the past as they are left to fade away by that Department of Do Nothing which excels itself on all local matters, road and rail related.

And we now have the new phenomenon - the tunnel of trees which now features a part of any out of town excursion. Maybe that’s why the DoDN has left the Ridge West/Junction Road shambles as it is - much of the traffic queue from the Link Road roundabout is invisible in the darkness that now envelops that part of Ridge West where trees on one side have met up with trees on the other thus creating this Lord of the Rings like treefest.

The pothole scandal is just that - a scandal. Steering, tracking, suspension and tyres all get a bashing from potholes - yet all we see from the people who should be dealing with this major safety issue is self congratulatory blurb as they announce money being available to fix potholes (in a few lucky locations) - potholes that were created by these same people who cut back on basic road maintenance in the first place.
