Regulation for cooks is nonsense

Is there no end to the regulatory nonsense the authorities can dream up?

Not too long ago Selective Licensing for rented property was introduced. This, most unfairly, gives the Local Authority the power to choose which parts of the borough will be involved.

Now anyone who cooks a cake or makes marmalade for a church table sale is threatened with having to pay a £300 fee for a kitchen inspection and Permission to Trade.

Most cooks who offer their wares in this time-honoured charitable way are not poisoners. Their kitchens are in regular use for themselves and often family.

We would know by now which ones ought not to be trusted. Why on earth must Authority intervene?
