Planning application has caused outrage

I AM flattered that my objection to the obtrusive new building on the East Hill was one of four out of the hundreds submitted that you quoted in your report (Observer, June 6).

However, in Kevin Boorman’s accompanying statement about the works recently carried out at Rocklands Caravan Park, some of them unauthorised, he fails to address a key issue, which is as follows.

A planning application for the building that has caused such outrage was submitted in May 2012 and refused in June that year, with 11 planning policies quoted as grounds for the decision.

A further application was then made in December 2012 for a virtually identical structure, which was approved in February 2013. Can Mr Boorman kindly explain this complete reversal in policy on the part of Hastings’ planning department?
