One of the most uplifting sights

One of the most natural uplifting sights at this time of year is to be found at Ashdown House here in Hastings with the arrival of perhaps one to two hundred Pied Wagtails. They come down every evening to roost in one of the courtyards in the building, flitting and chattering to each other where they are sheltered and protected on the established ornamental trees and shrubs planted there.

These small birds make an amazing contrast to the continuous activity from nearby Sedlescombe Road North and in an age where wildlife is so compromised, make a wonderful spectacle.
