Look after trees to convince us of concerns

MICHAEL Rock’s fight for his allotment would be more convincing if his trees were properly cared for.

Fruit trees should be clear of grass for one metre around each tree and top dressed with compost.

Young trees should also be staked or they will be rocked by wind and fail to thrive.

Allotments are a precious resource for growing food and should be seen as a responsibility, not a right.
