LETTER: '˜Solution' does not stop issues

A couple of weeks ago, the front page of the Observer featured the alleged problems being caused by '˜junkies' congregating at the southern end of Wellington Square outside Poundland.

Various letter writers demanded that something should be done to address this perceived problem and demanded appropriate action to clean things up and restore an acceptable image.

Great minds have obviously been discussing this matter earnestly and have come up with the extraordinary decision to remove the public seating from the offending area!

So now we are left with these still vulnerable people in the same place but sprawled out on the paved area or perched on the surrounding walls rather than on the seats which used to be in situ. Absolutely brilliant! A great understanding of the problems involved.

This should not be taken lying down.
