ON Sunday we visited the new Jerwood Gallery.
I had heard that the gallery was just for people down from London or friends of the Jerwood so I was pleasantly surprised to find that not only are local people allowed in but that we qualify for a generous discount on the entry fee.
Hats off to the Jerwood Gallery. I wonder though if this scheme could be extended to other venues around town?
Remembering to carry a utility bill or other proof that one is indeed a bona fide local is bound to prove difficult though.
Perhaps a one-off tattoo on the forehead declaring ‘Hastings born and bred’ could be introduced or a number/bar code could be stamped on our wrists to identify us as people of Hastings – deserving of a discount.
