I SAW a young lady I know about to throw away a pack of bananas. She had bought six for a pound (far too cheap), eaten one and decided to ditch the rest as the skins were becoming black. Horrified, I took them and found, inside, that one had a little brown patch, easily cut away.
Otherwise they were fine.
To me it is so wrong that shops should bag up perishable goods in a way which encourages waste, because one often has to buy more than can be used quickly. Then it is sad to see a young generation which can value good food so lightly that five (almost) perfectly edible bananas can just be chucked out.
Anyone want a banana? It’s a little black...
