Heavy metal

FOLLOWING the letter by Julian Godin (Observer, October 26) I am sure by now you will have had responses as to the meaning of the sign mentioned.

It is No Metal Detectors.

Interestingly, this is an activity I have seen more and more of in our area and recently have observed detectors being used on our local beaches and on the playing field beside Little Common road just past the London Road traffic lights at Bexhill.

I would imagine that there is a worry of metal detector users (if that is an acceptable term) digging and not leaving the ground as they found it but possibly a case of potholes etc where they may be a danger to not only humans but horses as well.
