Festive season is getting longer

We tend to moan about Christmas getting earlier each year, but this year it is off the scale!

On August 11, the start of the high summer Eastbourne Airshow event, I visited our local store. By the till on the second floor was a display of what looked like Christmas items. When mentioned to the assistant, she told me they had been in stock for three weeks. Is this the start of the six-month festive season? It starts in early August and goes on until the end of January of the next year as most stores are still trying to sell reduced cards and gifts, which stops sometimes so that the Valentine merchandise can be displayed.

Last night I dreamed that I pulled down Christmas lights which were being placed over the till by an assistant!

I would say I think I should get out more but it’s because I get out I see Christmas approaching in August!
