Facebook’s put to fine community use

WHAT a brilliant idea from Ali Godarzi to create the ‘St Leonards’ community via Facebook.

For a long time St Leonards has needed something to pull the community together, something that everybody regardless of nationality, religion or age can get involved in and I believe this could be it, a voice from the whole community.

We went to the first gathering on Saturday at The Roomz in Western Road, and were made to feel very welcome, we also spoke with Pat Fisher and some of the kids from the Gizmo Gaffe, based in Western Road, who are providing a great service for some of the young people in St Leonards.

Also in the Observer last week, we read about, the Wonky WI plans to create a community garden in St Leonards. We thought this was a really good idea and decided we would like to get involved. We mentioned this to Jeremy Birch who told us that two of the women (Nicole and Heather) were at the gathering, and introduced us to them. We think this goes to show, how this sort of event can bring the community together, to benefit the whole community.

There is certainly a buzz of excitement in St Leonards. Well done Ali. We hope that this project goes from strength to strength.

If you wish to join the Facebook group please go to St.leonardscommunity.co.uk.
