Election does not seem just

Our new MP has just been elected with 45 per cent of the vote on a turnout of 68 per cent which means that she has received the support of a mere 31 per cent of the electorate. This doesn’t seem just.

Surely there should now be a run-off between the highest-scoring candidates, thus ensuring the legitimacy of the elected person?
