Drop-in service is for carers, not users

A NEWS story published on the November 19 was incorrect in stating that a new drop-in service was for people trying to get off illegal drugs.

This was totally inaccurate and may have damaged the service with regards to how the public perceive the service, discouraging the people who the drop-in is aimed at, like carers and significant others of substance misusers.

The drop-in is for anyone affected by another person’s substance misuse, legal or otherwise. Someone may be affected by their partner’s misuse of prescription drugs, alcohol or any other substance.

The service provides advice and help with finding appropriate information and referral pathways for those carers and significant others.
