I AM not a great believer in conspiracy theories but Ofsted’s decision to put Little Ridge CP School into special measures gives me pause for thought.
Here is a school, very popular with parents and its community, led by a long-serving, highly respected and well-loved headteacher, which we are asked to believe has been failing across a wide spectrum of criteria.
I can think of only two options to account for this. Either there is a hidden agenda or the Ofsted inspectors responsible were incompetent.
Of course we must support and encourage newly established academies. It is our children they are educating. Yet how much greater will their successes appear if the schools they replace have been judged as failures and the reputations of dedicated staff in them trashed in the eyes of the public.
