Choir competition was a joy to behold

TEN primary schools participated in the finale of the 1066 Choir Competition which took place at the White Rock Theatre on July 8.

It was an amazing occasion with the air filled with excitement and anticipation. All the children were great and we all enjoyed their various songs under the leadership of their music teachers.

This is an event we are working on to become an annual event organised entirely by the Rotary Club of Hastings.

We were honoured by the attendance of District Governor Lyn Mitchell who presented the winning choir, Plumpton School, with the trophy.

President Brion Purdey, of the Rotary Club of Hastings, presented them with a cheque for £250 and a parchment certificate to each pupil in the choir.

All the pupils participating received their certificate parchment for their participation.

As this was also a fundraising event for the club we raised around £4,000 which will go to local and international projects and charities supported by the Rotary club.

We look forward to next year’s finale.
