HAS there ever been a picture of such joy as that of the victorious Save the Archery Ground campaigners on the front page of the Observer, June 22?

The answer is in the report on page 14, which concerns councillor Godfrey Daniel, chairman of the planning committee. He lists his skills and abilities on the internet and includes ’rising to challenges and solving problems’ and ‘creating innovative ideas and solutions’.
He voted in favour of the Gladedale proposal for Archery Ground. The mystery is in how he achieved such elevated responsibility. I trust he’ll relinquish his position immediately.
