I was admitted to the Egerton Ward at the Stroke Unit of the Conquest Hospital on November 12.
I cannot speak too highly of the treatment I received both at A&E and during my stay at the Conquest from the doctors, nurses and ancillary staff alike.
I was impressed not only by the in-depth examinations to assess the neurological damage, but also by the kindness and concern with which I was treated. All my needs were anticipated.
Since my return home, staff from the Community Stroke Rehabilitation Team have visited on an almost daily basis, advising on dietary needs, on cognitive rehabilitation strategies and supplying aids to improve my impaired mobility, as well as assessing and reporting on my general health.
In a period when there seem to be concerns about the future of our health service, I should like to stress that the residents of Hastings and St Leonards can receive speedy, efficient and compassionate service in the event of a stroke.
