HAD Wyndham Davidson fallen asleep during the wedding? Perhaps Mr Davidson should have checked with the church before writing such an acerbic letter. The bells of Christchurch did indeed ring out loud and clear on the happy couple’s day.
As mentioned in Mr Davidson’s letter last week the bells do also ring every Monday but they do not disturb all residents. I do not attend church or have any particular religious leanings but I do enjoy the ringing of the bells and understand the joy they bring to Christians within earshot.
I have heard neighbours and acquaintances mention the bells over the years but I had not heard a complaint until last week’s letter.
Does Mr Davidson really believe that bells rung for a wedding are joyful but when rung for religious belief they are not? Let the bells ring out.
